There is an upcoming special issue of the APA journal Evolutionary Behavioral Science dedicated to feminist evolutionary perspectives. We are currently seeking abstracts outlining submissions for the special issue. Authors of selected abstracts will then be invited to write full papers for formal review.

The working title of the special issue is Beyond the Ingénue: Current Evolutionary Perspectives of Women

Our goal with the special issue is to examine current views of women that outline women as active agents, questions past assumptions, or details ways in which the field has limited a fuller exploration of women. All articles must have a clear relevance to evolutionary perspectives of human behaviour.

Abstracts (up to 250 words) are due by June 30, 2018. Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified within approximately two weeks. First drafts of papers will be due October 1.

We are hoping to accept 8 to 9 papers of about 20 manuscript (APA 6th edition) pages in length.

A little background about the special issue. There are two reasons why this special issue is so important. One is that the journal was formerly known as the Journal of Social, Evolutionary, and Cultural Psychology, and the special issue on feminist evolutionary perspectives was highly successful (i.e., it is frequently downloaded). However, several years have passed and it is time to do an update on the field. The second reason is that for the first time ever, the NorthEastern Evolutionary Psychology Society (NEEPS) held a special session for papers from the Feminist Evolutionary Psychology Society (FEPS) at their conference in April 2018. This session was very well received. Rather than simply publish a proceedings of the session, we decided it would be best to issue a broad call to scholars in the area, in the hopes that we would receive a wide assortment of articles.

Please reach out if you have any questions. We are looking forward to receiving your abstract.
